How to Make Blondies
This blondie recipe is super easy to make with only 8 simple ingredients. Blondies differ from brownies as they have a rich vanilla buttery flavor, whereas brownies have a deep chocolate flavor.
However, you can add a little chocolate to blondies by adding chocolate chips or even dipping them into a bowl of melted chocolate.
Although you can make your blondies any shape, the standard shape is to just cut them in squares, and we made ours into hearts using a cookie cutter.
This is an easy recipe, and it’s not overly sweet. They’re best served after cooking for a few minutes! They are so good and warm, and served on the same day!
Ingredients
- Butter
- Eggs
- Salt
- Godiva Chocolate Chips (semisweet, milk chocolate, or bittersweet)
Directions
- Make sure the butter is at room temperature and soft.
- In an electric mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and brown sugar.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla and continue to beat.
- Turn the mixture to low and slowly add in the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Bake in a 9 x 9 X 3 greased pan. We use a little vegetable oil rubbed on the bottom and sides of the pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes in a 325-degree oven or until light golden brown.
Tips for Making Blondies
This is a very easy blondie recipe. You can even add your twist! This recipe allows room for chopped nuts or even dried fruit like cranberries or cherries.
I LOVE dried cherries in desserts. Our chocolate cherry chunk cookies are by far one of my favorites!
Decide what type of chips you want to add!
- Milk Chocolate
- Semisweet Chocolate
- Bittersweet Chocolate
- White Chocolate
- Butterscotch Chips
- Peanut Butter Chips
Always add a little coarse salt to the top of the blondies! Once they come out of the oven, I use my grinder and give it a few good twists to let the salt fall over the blondies.
Furthermore, you can also dip them in melted chocolate.
Use either all light brown sugar or a mixture of light and dark brown sugar when making these.
Make their shapes! You don’t have to cut them into standard squares, and you can also use small cookie cutters for fun shapes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are blondies called blondies?
A blondie is known as a blonde brownie. It’s basically a brownie without cocoa powder to make them chocolate. It uses vanilla instead of chocolate.
How long can you keep blondies?
Blondies are always best served on the first day and even right out of the oven after cooling! The next day is fine too, but truly I feel like they taste different!
I’ve actually made the batter for these, put it in the pan, and left it in the refrigerator to bake right after dinner for my guests. The blondies were warm and SO good.
How do you know when blondies are done?
The sides of the blondies will start to puff up and turn golden brown. The middle will also need to be even with the sides and golden brown. Stick a toothpick in the center to test the batter.
You don’t want it to be doughy but also not fully cooked like bread!
It’s not easy to know when desserts are done, and can take time and practice. We recommend not overcooking and prefer a little more undercooked as the brownies will continue to cook and settle.
